Reason #2) To use Your Entertainment Skills, to Make Some Organization a Profit!
Which do you think will pay YOU, the Entertainer, the most? Reason #2, of course - Making Someone Else A Profit. Every time they hire the Rolling Stones to perform a concert, ALL the people involved: the agents, ticket wickets, stage rental companies, lighting, roadies, television, parking lot attendants, even the cleaning staff and the popcorn man - ALL Make A Big Profit! The MORE PROFIT an act can make them, the MORE they want ‘THAT’ act, the MORE they are willing to pay to get ‘THAT’ act - Again, Simple Psychology!
So, they can afford to pay YOU, the Entertainer, MORE for this type of act - because the more they book YOU, the More Money They Make. This is the type of act you should be looking to be booked in to - the acts that make PROFIT for others.
That’s why I like to book Magicians in to TV commercials, Theaters, Television Spots, Cruise Ship, Vegas, and the like. Everything now-a-days, is for Commerce, and Commerce Alone. Some Magicians tell me they perform mostly for the ‘Art’ - NOT TRUE! We, as Entertainers, perform for Commerce! That’s the major reason. There is really no other reason! So...

The days of performing, just for the art of performing, are almost gone! Everything now-a-days, is for Commerce. I am a Booking Agent. I work in the background. You can go out and personally hire:
- 2 Magicians,
- 1 Juggler
- 1 Mentalist
- 1 Comedian or ‘Master of Ceremonies’
You can now pitch this show to a owner of a Dinner Theater (or have your agent do it), or small 250 seat Theater. The owner will easily pay you $5,000.00 for this act. Why?
Here’s Why: The owner will charge customers 250 seats x $50 = $12,500.00. Add to that drinks, parking, souvenirs and the owner makes $25,000.00 off the event. There’s no problem to pay you just $5,000.00! Besides, he could not do it without you!
To make a long story short, He Makes Money - You Make Money. Do this show 3 - 4 times a weekend, work 2 days, split up $20.000.00 with your friends! - Simple! This is exactly what I, as a Booking Agent, Do!
You can now do 2 things:
1) You can split up the profits with the other performers. The performers would now end up getting paid $1,000.00 each, to provide a $300 show! Not bad!!!, or
2) Just hire ‘side men’ at union rates, or hire the other performers for a ‘flat rate fee’, of say $450.00 per performance (which is way above market value). You then would earn $3,300.00 ! - PER PERFORMANCE!
Take it one step further, make the act Unique and offer it exclusive to a Busy Agency - Like Mine. A Booking Agent can be the ideal business partner - if you know how to handle them.

I know of one Magician that, after his bar show, spends 2 hours afterwards offering computer 'Love' Horoscopes, and offers free 'computer match making services' on his laptop computer to club goers. The club owner pays him $275.00 for the Magic show, $150 per night for the match making services, and he makes and additional $300 - $500 per night selling $10 Horoscopes and 'Love Scopes'. That’s over $850.00 for 3 hours work - on a slow Tuesday or Wednesday ‘off’ night. And for almost all CASH! - These are Back End products.
I know of another Magician that ‘BOOKS HIMSELF IN TO OTHER PEOPLES SHOWS! He puts on a free small Magic Show from his 8 foot booth - He does simple close up magic of about 5 simple tricks. At the end of his routine, when the audience is bewildered, he offer’s for sale the entire routine they just watched, along with another 15 simple tricks. The entire act, and more, are all complete and wrapped up in a Nice display package for $20.
In a busy Fair he always sells at least 1 or 2 kits for $20 each - EVERY 7 minuets. He assembles the kits himself for a cost of about $2.50. So long as there are Fairs and Exhibitions...
He also gets many leads for follow up shows by inserting his business card in the kit! Sometimes this 5 day booth space costs him only $75.00! - Crazy isn’t it! (watch him work in our ‘Art of the Pitch’ Home Study Course).
I know Many 'Magicians By Night - Psychics By Day', who work Tea Rooms. These are Psychic meeting places to entertain clients. They have a 5 million dollar budget to pay for 5 or 7 Lucky Acts, and that’s just for that week! Add to that another 2 Million Dollars from the Casino Profits (average loss is $500 per person per week), and all the extras, and they have an 8 million dollars budget, JUST OFF THAT ONE CRUISE! - just for that One Week!
Sure they have expenses too, but most of these expenses are for ‘Side Men’, like cooks, dancers, musicians, waiters, security, cleaning staff, and such. Only ‘Preferred Entertainers’ get paid the BIG BUCKS on a Cruise.
Can they afford $25,000.00 a week for a good act, JUST TO KEEP THE BIG PAYING CRUISE GOER’S HAPPY? Sure they can - And They Do! The Cruise Organizers want to keep that Cool 8 Million Per Week - per Cruise Ship - coming in, and will do anything to keep it coming in!
WHY?... THEY NEED TOP NOTCH ACTS CONSTANTLY!
That’s why my job is so good, because I can provide them with what they need, but sometimes even I can’t find good acts! There not around!
Add to that also the $2,500.00 cruise benefit that the Entertainers get for FREE, for being on this ‘5 Star Luxury Hotel On Water’, that a Magician gets paid BIG BUCKS to be on, and it adds up to a hell of a lot of money to be made by some ‘Select’ Magicians or Entertainers! Also, the Cruise staff (including entertainers) get complete medical and dental coverage - all paid for.

Companies like Nike or Coka-Cola spend $100,000.00 just to dress up a 10 by 10 booth at a local State Fair or Trade Show, or just for a 10 second stunt!
